that will enable the energy transition for customers in diverse industries and regions across the world. At present ENGIE has a pipeline of approximately 30 hydrogen projects worldwide and a flagship, first of its kind green hydrogen project in South Africa.
Green Hydrogen
ENGIE has positioned itself as a major player in renewable hydrogen and operates across the entire hydrogen value chain – from production of renewable energies to end uses.
For us, green hydrogen is an essential component of the energy mix, as you can:
- store energy and make it available when renewables are not producing electricity
- develop more sustainable forms of mobility
- decarbonize industrial uses.
Africa is a key market for the development of the Hydrogen economy.
In South Africa, Engie has partnered with Anglo American to launch the world's first zero-emissions hydrogen mining haul truck.
ENGIE is a founding member of the Hydrogen Valley Initiative with Anglo American and the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) in South Africa to unlock the potential of a Green Hydrogen economy for the country. Click below for this report.
